Track IR Hardware
Been thinking for a while about getting Track IR,nice bit of kit.But i can't bring myself to go paying £140 plus for it.
Have something simmular running in X-Plane sim, using a webcam which detects ur head movement, works ok but now and then the screen stutters due to cpu load processing the image from the cam.
Looked around the web for a while and found you can use a wii controller, wii sensor bar (wireless) and a blue tooth dongle to connect wii controller to the pc.
All for around £20 from ebay. Video's i have seen on youtube look good with this config on flight and racing sims so might have a try when i next get paid.
Oh before i forget the program i will use is called FreeTrack and is free.

Re: Track IR Hardware
Do you use the in cockpit view Alan?
I can see how it would work well for flight sims, not sure about race sims but agree it hell of a lot cheaper than trackIR.
A wider screen monitor would be better for me.

Re: Track IR Hardware
I use the incockpit view for the race and bonnet view to learn a track cos find it easier that way.
Just doing it as a project really to see how it turns out, if ok will use it on both sims.
The main reason for using the formentioned config over an web cam is that the cam in the wii controller give you 100 to 125 FPS over 25 to 30 FPS even on an top of the range web cam.
The wii controller also has an onboard processor so has no hit on the computers cpu.
