I sometimes come up with daft ideas and this is prolly one of them.

After seeing mike sharing his set ups in an effort to help drivers who are a little off the pace, i thought it might be an idea for those that want or need assistance to find another way of helping.

I am not sure how many have been using set ups sent through the garage but a good set up is only part of getting fast lap times, so i thought posting videos of fast laps achieved while practicing during the week before fridays races may be of some benefit to some, the lines used, braking points, gear selection and so on.

On ts i heard a couple saying how can i be 2 seconds slower and drivers doing 57's must be cheating (jokingly of course) and even had a whisper asking how i managed the 57.5 to get the pole.

This is just an idea that a few years ago helped me when someone posted his fast lap videos, i learned quite a lot from watching them.

So croft is next but as i was so pleased on friday to get my first pole with my fastest ever lap at silverstone i thought i would post this anyway. Very Happy

I agree. A good setup isnt all.

At first you have to know how the physics of a FWD car work. Alan had many problems on rockingham, with my setup too. We did a training, he was driving and im watching him and telling him how to handle the car, the braking points.
We trained about an hour, after that he improved his laptimes and was able to really good lap times.

First thing what I see on all drivers: They are braking AND using the motor brake too. Thats bad, in the moment you shift down to high your frontwheels lock, and on this way you have a longer braking way. Use only your brake and shift down later, you wil notice that this way works better, and your front tyres will not go down so fast.

Second thing is that a FWD car has the best balance in a corner if you use a little bit throttle. That means brake early, turn in AND give your car a bit throttle. You will notice that you have a better handling. Why?
If you throttle a bit some of your cars weight gets to the back. A FWD car has most of its weight on the front, as much as you get to the back as better is your handling.

Third thing is based on second. If you throttle early out of a corner you have a higher topspeed and a better chance to overtake.

Here is a quick lap at thruxton, i couldn't find replay of my best lap in the hundreds of replays i have but this was only half a tenth off it at 1:14.873.

Still not got the gear ratios quite right yet but its close.
