RF2 skinning guide - geting custom skin into RF2
As with most things sim related, getting a custom car skin into RF2 appears difficult at first but is actually reasonably straight forward. Here's a how to guide..
Step 1 - Load rfactor and select and current car, for this example i’ll choose #99
Step 2 - Click the tuning icon then on next screen click CREATE DIR,
Also note location of loose skin directory at top of screen
Step 3 - Close RF2 and navigate to the loose skin directory, open the folder for car #99
you should see a .DDS skin file named ALT
Step 4 - Restart RF2 and select the same car #99 and then click tuning once more. Alongside
Car paint variants, click until ALT shows., Note skin will remain the same at this point. Then click
CREATE and enter your Driver/Team details and accept. If you now return to the car main menu
you will see a car for your driver name called virtual ride
Step 5 - Navigate back to loose skins folder and you will now see a folder for your driver,
open this folder and an ALT.DDS skin file will be present. Rename this to your driver
surname, note ALT must still come after the name for example SJONESALT.DDS
This will now be the .DDS file to overwrite when saving your skin template.
Finally when editing you skin there is no need to restart RF2 to see updates. Open your
Virtual ride in the tuning screen and each time you overwrite the DDS file you can click
RELOAD for instant update.
Please note if editing the window or extra files..same name for the driver including the ALT
must head the filename

Yup but without MIP maps, otherwise it looks weird.
