Alpha Channel Empty Alpha Channel

Hi guys, can anyone help me with creating an Alpha channel with 50% transparancy/opacity in photo shop and what setting in the NVIDIA plugin to save the texture as.

Its for a Diffusser road texture for an rf2 track, cheers Alan.
